ST. PAUL, Minn. . . .Tomorrow, Thursday, May 22nd, is a long-awaited day of celebration for Minnesota's parents, teachers and students who have worked five years to see the Profile of Learning abolished.
Join the Maple River Education Coalition for the celebration rally from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Capitol Rotunda.* Anti-Profile t-shirts, buttons, and signs will be available for all to take home as reminders of our battle and remembrances of our victory!
Other invited speakers include Governor Pawlenty, Commissioner Yecke, Senator Michele Bachmann, Speaker of the House Steve Sviggum, and Representative Tony Kielkucki.
"The defeat of the Profile is a monumental occasion," said Julie Quist, Vice President of the Maple River Education Coalition. "Minnesota's grassroots education movement has defeated what was misrepresented to the public as an exceptional idea."
'"The repeal of the Profile is a first step toward re-establishing a liberal arts educational system for the children of Minnesota," said Quist. "Beginning immediately, local, parents and school districts once again have authority over their curriculum. They now have the opportunity to re-focus education on knowledge."
Bring your anti-profile signs from years past and join with us this Thursday as we rally to celebrate the defeat of the Profile of Learning. May the Profile rest in peace!
* If the special session has ended and the Capitol is locked, the celebration will be help on the Capitol steps.*******
